Viet Nam's largest hydro-electric power plant in the northern mountainous province of Son La today launched a trial run of its fifth turbine with a capacity of 400 MW.

The Electricity of Vietnam group (EVN) is expecting to bring many power stations nationwide online within April.

Dong Nai 4 hydropower plant yesterday began distributing power to the national electricity grid from its first operational turbine in a bid to ensure power stability and backup in the upcoming dry season in the South.
The Viet Nam National Power Transmission Corporation completed the 500kV Son La-Hiep Hoa electrical grid last Saturday night, which would connect the Son La hydro-power plant and others in northwestern region to the national grid.
